I am Karla Loria, born and raised in Costa Rica, where I grew up surrounded and influenced by many artists in my own family. I have enjoyed painting since my High School years and have spent many years focusing on watercolor and pastels. Recently, my daughter was painting for one of her art classes and encouraged me to picked up the palette knife and experiment with oil and acrylics to paint with her. I was overwhelmed with the brightness of colors I was able to achieve with these new mediums and how much fun it was to create new textures on the canvas. Since then, it has been hard to go back to the brush! The warm and cool colors of all of these story-telling pieces are a window to how I see life.
I have a Doctorate in Education and work every day to make the lives of children better. In my free time, I get lost in my colors and find peace with my husband, daughters, new son-in-law, and my newly acquired challenge, my cello!
